Mary Jane Vance

Shreveport, LA- During the early hours of Thursday, July 13, 2017, following a two year battle with dementia, Mary Jane Ames Vance, age 74, passed away and went to be with Jesus, to whom she had devoted her life.

Mary Jane was a 1960 graduate of C.E. Byrd High School in Shreveport, Louisiana. Within two years of that graduation, she married Glen Vance (a 1958 Byrd graduate), attended beauty school, began working as a hairdresser and gave birth to her first child. She fully devoted her life to being a faithful servant of God, a loving wife and mother, and a devoted church member at Southside Baptist Church in Shreveport.

What is the Mary Jane Vance Fellowship?

This is a fellowship program for international doctors to train with our surgeons in America and return to their home country where we continue the hands-on training and supervision, in order to provide more accessible care in their area.

WHy are we different?

Instead of leaving the country after teaching a set amount of skills, future visits by our board-certified ophthalmologists and other surgical staff enable us to see postoperative patients together and continue to work together as surgical techniques advance.
